1. Operators of this Website

To serve their members and many other pet owners and animal lovers, the Zurich Animal Protection Society is operating this website in order to fight cruelty against animals, improve the keeping of pets, provide valuable information in critical situations (diseases, poisoning, strange behaviour of animals), consult in legal cases and communicate ethical standards.

The Society is eager to educate children and young people to sharpen their understanding for the vital needs of animals. The responsible operator of this website is the Zurich Animal Protection Society, Zürichbergstrasse 263, CH-8044 Zurich, Switzerland.

3. Visitors of this Website

Pet owners, owners of farm animals, farmers, owners of horses and sportswomen, students, teenagers, teachers, animal lovers, vets, animal homes, authorities, press, media. In particular visitors living in the Canton of Zurich and in neighbouring areas, as well as visitors from the French and Italian parts of Switzerland and of course from other countries. Up to now, over 2 million visits have taken place. About 6 million pages were used to get valuable information to better handle pets and other animals. The monthly numer of visits is about 180'000 with about 500'000 pages selected. This means that the website of the Zurich Animal Protection Society is one of the most frequently visited websites in animal protection in Europe. In addition to the main website, the domain www.tierschutz.ch with three national databases for lost, found and homeless animals is offered to the Swiss public.

4. Images, Copyright

Most images have been produced by the Zurich Animal Protection Society. In addition, images of the Corel Corporation and of different photographers have been used. In some rare cases where it was impossible to find the author of an image, the Zurich Animal Protection Society kindly ask to contact the Society in order to correctly settle the copyright fee. The copyright for public image material produced by the Zurich Animal Protection Society must be remunerated and remains the property of the Society. Duplication or other use of such material is not permitted without written permission of the Zurich Animal Protection Society.

6. Disclosure of liability

Please study carefully the disclosure of liability, which is an important part of this very voluminous website. In the case of direct or indirect references to other Internet sites (links) which lie outside the scope of responsibility of www.animal-protection.ch, liability may only apply if the operator, www.animal-protection.ch, is aware of the content material, and if it would have been reasonable and technically possible for the operator to prevent utilisation in the case of unlawful content material. The supplier of the page which is referred to is solely liable for illegal, incorrect or incomplete content material and, in particular, for damage arising from the use or non-use of information thus supplied - not the person who merely provides the reference to the relevant publication by means of links.
