| Goat: Most frequent diseases. Vet Dr. Tiger gives information and advice. |
The very resistent and robust goats rarely are patients at the vet's office.
With a good hygiene in the stable and if the goats are kept in a way appropriate to their species, most of the diseases can be avoided.
Hereafter a summary of the most frequently occurring diseases and their causes:

| Self-Medication |
It is always very difficult to judge the seriousness of the situation in the case of ruminants. First aid can at first be given by oneself, without the help of a vet, if the animal needs claw care, regular dehelminthization, a slow change in feed in case of diarrhoea and for combatting external parasites. If, however, it comes to lameness, to a puffy hot udder, to hair loss or even an epidemic, the vet must be consulted.

Emergency situations |
In case of an emergency, it is important to keep calm and to to be able to contact a vet who is available immediately. A conflagration, an accident in road traffic, animals buried under the snow, poisoning and colics, all these things can happen.
