Every Society needs active members who help to support the whole thing.

Every new member will be given a warm welcome with wide open arms by the Zurich Animal Protection Society. Your active contribution is very important to us!

Of course, this is not just a question of the annual fee of CHFr 10.- and of possibly bringing it up to a round figure. What also very much matters are your thoughts on this and your experiences with animals which you bring to bear in the association. Our board and our management need strong grounds from where they can get ideas and suggestions to work with in the complex world of animal protection and to so be able to realize modern activities fulfilling the needs of the population. We would like to do our utmost in our attempt to use the contributions and donations entrusted to us in a way that the imposing hordes of animals in the canton can live a happy life without suffering, that the precious habitats of the wild animals can last, that we can teach the youth new ethics in how to treat with animals and that we will be successful in persuading the legislature of tenable solutions in the animal protection field.

Become a member of the Zurich Animal Protection Society and also encourage your friends to do so! Just click here, fill out the form und send it off with another click. A warm welcome to the Zurich animal conservationists!

A non-profit-making animal protection society can only reach their goal if they get the support of an active membership and many sponsors. At present, approximately 25'000 animal lovers are active members of the Zurich Animal Protection Society. Of course, the majority of them from the canton of Zurich and some bordering cantons. Moreover, there are approximately 45'000 sponsors who express interest in the objectives of the Society by making donations. If one takes into consideration that there are 1,2 million men and women living in Zurich and, if one includes the nearby agglomeration like Baden, Schaffhausen, Pfäffikon/SZ etc., a number of 1,5 million can be reached, it becomes obvious that the potential of animal lovers is by far not reached as yet: 25'000 out of 1'500'000 are just only 1,67%.

Considering the 8'600 bagged animals in the year 2000, above all roe deer and foxes, the 166'000 kilogrammes of cought fish out of the lake of Zurich, the 97'000 cows, 42'000 pigs, 5'000 horses and 30'000 chickens in the canton, as well as the about 125'000 dogs and 250'000 cats in the Zurich homes, one would assume that a larger number of people are interested in animal protection? Quite apart from the many guinea pigs, caged birds, dwarf rabbits, ornamental fishes and other domestic animals who justify the existence of the Zurich Animal Protection Society barking, twittering, meowing and neighing. Our modest goal for the next years: 3 % members of the Zurich population!
Now it's you who are on the ball...
